Official launch of Space Asia Hub (Singapore)
11 November 2011 – Space Furniture is pleased to announce the official launch of one of the world’s iconic destinations for design – Space Asia Hub.
The 40,000 sq ft showroom along Bencoolen Street in Singapore combines three distinct yet conjoined blocks – Heritage House, Glass Block and The Villa, each with its own unique interior expression. A S$50 million design multiplex showcase designed by leading architecture practice WOHA – incidentally a recipient of the prestigious President’s Design Award this year, Space Asia Hub houses more than 20 premium design brands like Acerbis, B&B Italia, Carl Hansen & Søn, Driade, Flexform, Flexform Mood, Flos, Kartell, Louis Poulsen, Moooi, Poliform, Varenna by Poliform, Vitra, a dedicated section for Space accessories and more.
During the official launch event, Space played host to the who’s-who in the contemporary design world. The guests list is a congruence of big-wigs like Mr. Giorgio Busnelli, Chairman and CEO of B&B Italia, Mr. Knud Erik Hansen, Managing Director of Carl Hansen & Son, Mr. Pietro and Giuliano Galimberti, President and CEO of Flexform and Flexform Mood, Mr. Carlo Giorgetti, President of Giorgetti and Mr. Casper Vissers, Co-founder of Moooi, as well as the most celebrated designers, Mr. Marcel Wanders, Co-founder and Art Director of Moooi, and Mr. Chi Wing Lo, Architect/ Designer for Giorgetti.
The launch was officiated by Ms. Katie Page, Chairman of Space Group, together with Mr. Gerry Harvey, Chairman of Harvey Norman Group, Mr. Syddal Wee, General Manager of Space Asia, and Guest-of-Honour Mr. Robert Tomlin, Chairman of DesignSingapore. A video of congratulatory messages from all the brand partners was shown to the 1,000-strong audience comprising leading architects, designers, valued clients, Design Singapore representatives and their international advisory panel members, ambassadors of embassies, recipients of President’s Design Award 2011, members of the media and movers and shakers in the design world.
